Hitachi Astemo Continues INDYCAR Partnership with Team Penske and Chevrolet

Josef Newgarden took a second consecutive Indy 500 checkered flag in 2024

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., February 17, 2025 – Hitachi Astemo (Astemo), a leading automotive industry supplier, continues its NTT INDYCAR SERIES partnership with Team Penske for a 14th consecutive year in 2025 as a sponsor of the No. 2 Dallara/Chevrolet driven by Josef Newgarden.

A two-time series champion, Newgarden last year became the first driver in more than 20 years to score back-to-back Indianapolis 500 wins, while also giving Team Penske a record 20th Indy 500 victory.

Astemo supplies fuel-system components for all of the 2.2-liter twin-turbocharged Chevrolet race engines in the series, last year helping Chevrolet win its ninth NTT INDYCAR SERIES Manufacturing Championship since returning to INDYCAR competition in 2012.

“Winning is all about teamwork,” said Team Penske President Tim Cindric. “Josef Newgarden and this No. 2 Hitachi Astemo Chevrolet team are proven winners, yet we still have plenty to prove going into the 2025 season.”

Originally from Hendersonville, Tenn., the 33-year-old Newgarden is the most successful driver in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES. He completed the 2024 season with more than 30 career INDYCAR victories. In addition to being the back-to-back winner of the 2023 and 2024 Indianapolis 500, he also is the 2017 and 2019 INDYCAR SERIES champion and the 2011 Indy Lights champion.

“We’re looking forward to another record-setting partnership year with Chevrolet and Team Penske,” said Rob Sharpe, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Hitachi Astemo Americas. “With Josef Newgarden in command of the No. 2 Astemo Chevrolet the outlook for 2025 is a bright one.”

Sharpe added that the appearance of the No. 2 Penske Chevrolet will undergo a major change for the upcoming season. The primary body color will switch from black to bright red and the Astemo name will appear on the sides and rear wing of the car.

Team Penske and Astemo late last year announced the extension of their winning partnership for the 2025 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season and beyond.
